Happy Father's Day From Sonny And Spike Dykes!

Cal's new head coach definitely comes from good coaching roots.

Sonny Dykes is an accomplished football coach, but he definitely has a lot of work to do to catch up to his father Spike.

Before there was Mike Leach, Spike Dykes helped lead Texas Tech to competitive relevance in the Southwest Conference and the transition into the Big 12. Spike had his way with Texas and only had two losing seasons in 14 years in Lubbock. He would never win the conference outright but managed five straight second place finishes from 1991-1995 and two top 25 seasons.

Spike took a visit out to Memorial Stadium this spring and seemed to enjoy what he saw. Here are his thoughts and Sonny's in a short feature produced by the Pac-12 Networks. I'd love to see an extended feature on the two of them from the Pac-12 and see how Sonny was influenced as a football mind by his father.

Happy Father's Day everyone!
