Ryan Gorcey of Scout is announcing that the partnership between Under Armour and the California Golden Bears is resulting in a new tradition for the Joe Roth Memorial Game—the annual game in Berkeley against either the USC Trojans or the UC Los Angeles Bruins.
The uniforms -- replicas of those worn by quarterback Joe Roth during the Bears' Pac-8 co-championship season of 1975 -- will be worn on Sat., Sept. 23, in Cal's third home game of the season, against USC. The uniforms will be worn every season against whichever Los Angeles team -- USC or UCLA -- plays at Memorial Stadium for the annual Joe Roth Memorial Game.
Mayhaps the the excitement around the throwbacks will fade a little if we wear them annually, but it will be a great way to honor Joe Roth.
As a CGB-specific note, this means we’ll be getting Roth jerseys for our annual Bryan Harland Memorial Game. Cal Band Great!
