National honors candidate Jared Goff was named the Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week for his record-setting performance in Cal’s 54-24 victory over Oregon State last Saturday that made the Golden Bears bowl eligible for the first time since 2011. The junior quarterback earned the honor for the first time in his career by equaling his own school record for most touchdown passes in regulation with six while adding a season-high 453 yards passing on 26-of-37 passing. Goff was also named the Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week by College Sports Madness in addition to being one of eight quarterbacks nationally to earn a Manning Award Star of the Week and one of six to be nominated for the Las Vegas Bowl Nevada State Bank Pac-12 Player of the Week. Voting for the Manning Award Quarterback of the Week runs through Thursday at 9 am PT, while the Las Vegas Bowl Nevada State Bank Pac-12 Player of the Week ends Wednesday at noon PT. Vote For Jared Manning Award Quarterback of the Week Las Vegas Bowl Nevada State Bank Player of the Week Goff’s six touchdown passes against the Beavers tied for the most thrown by any quarterback in the nation in 2015 while his 453 passing yards were the fifth-most thrown by a Pac-12 quarterback this season and the most by any signal caller in the conference other than Washington State’s Luke Falk. In the win over Oregon State, Goff became the second player in Pac-12 history to record 3,000 yards or more passing in each of his first three seasons and the sixth player in the conference to ever have three campaigns of 3,000 or more yards in the air. Goff has completed 249-of-387 passes for 3,324 yards with 30 touchdowns and 13 interceptions for a 155.35 passer efficiency rating over 10 starts and 10 games played in 2015. Over his first three seasons at Cal, he has started all 34 games possible and thrown for 10,805 yards on 885-of-1427 passing with 83 touchdowns and 30 interceptions for a 140.61 passer efficiency . Goff is the fourth Cal player to be selected for a Player of the Week honor by the conference this season following the Defensive Player of the Week selection of Kyle Kragen (Sept. 26, at Washington) and Stefan McClure (Oct. 3, vs. Washington State) in back-to-back weeks, and the Special Teams Player of the Week pick of Raymond Hudson (Nov. 7, at Oregon).
