On September 30, 2006, Nate Longshore passed for 341 yards and four touchdowns and some guy named Marshawn Lynch ran for 106 yards and scored three total touchdowns (two of them receiving), leading Cal to a surprisingly easy 41-13 win over Oregon State at Reser Stadium in Corvallis.
Cal has not won in Corvallis since.
The last three trips to Reser Stadium have been mostly a horror show for the Bears. The 2008 loss was competitive (but featured much ALAMAAAAAARRRRR!), but the last two meetings in Corvallis have been blowouts: Oregon State ended Kevin Riley's career in a 35-7 win in 2010 and ended Jeff Tedford's tenure as Cal coach with a 62-14 demolition in 2012.
What is in store in 2014? Cal comes into this game hungry for a win after three straight losses. The Bears have not won since the crazy 60-59 win at Washington State on October 4. Conventional wisdom says that Cal might need this one today in order to realistically keep its bowl hopes alive.
What do you think of today's game, Cal fans? Will Cal break the Corvallis Curse? At least a couple of guys think so:
