BYU 42, Cal 35 postgame thread: The season is over

Report card inside!

Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

The most disappointing performance of the season was saved for last. With the season on the line, the California Golden Bears couldn't stop a walk-on backup BYU quarterback from lighting them up for 433 passing yards and giving up 28 second half points to take away bowl eligibility from the Bears.

The coaching by Sonny Dykes and crew was at best poor and at times abominable. They wasted timeouts and punted over and over on 4th down when the BYU offense proved they couldn't be stopped by the Bears. The Cal defense kept on blitzing when it was becoming quite clear that they were almost entirely ineffective in their aggressiveness, and BYU burned us with wide receivers running right past our defenders.

Cal's season is over. And Sonny and company have a lot of soul-searching to do.
