REPORT: Jake Spavital the new West Virginia offensive coordinator

Cal interim head coach Jake Spavital isn’t going to wait around to see who the next head coach is. West Virginia has scooped in and gotten their Air Raid brother back to the Big 12.

It was very unlikely Jake Spavital would’ve meshed with Justin Wilcox. Wilcox is a West Coast offense type coach, Spavital is pure Air Raid. When it became clear that Wilcox was going to be the primary target, it sounded like Spavital went to find the best spot for him.

Also it’s likely that Spavital would have wanted a raise as the primary offensive mind on staff, and I’m not sure if Wilcox has the same ideas of how he wants his offense to run.

I would guess that Cal OL coach Brandon Jones is probably now a 50-50 proposition at best. The Bears sound like they're resetting the offense, so I’m guessing the Bear Raid era at Cal is coming to an end.
