The coronavirus has changed the way we’ll see football this season, not only at the NFL and college levels, but also at the high school level. Some states have levied such heavy changes that they’re postponing games all the way until March, while others are carrying on like normal.
So, we took a look at which recruits are playing their final high school football seasons this fall, and where. As well as who potentially may have a spring season to decide to play or not with the early signing day period still set for mid-December.
4-star WR J.Michael Sturdivant — Marcus High School, Flower Mound, TX
Sturdivant and the Marauders take on Jesuit on September 25 to open their season. They have a scrimmage game on the 17th of September but the real action begins on the 25th.
4-star TE Jermaine Terry — Kennedy High School, Richmond, CA
Kennedy is part of the CIF-North Coast Section, and California is set to open practices on December 14. Terry will ultimately have to make a decision to play a season that starts on January 7-8, after potentially signing his letter of intent to come to Cal in mid-December.
4-star WR Mavin Anderson — Mission Viejo High School, Mission Viejo, CA
Mission Viejo is in the CIF-South Coast League and they’re scheduled to start practices on December 14. Games start no later than January 8 and there is no word on Anderson’s status at this time.
4-star QB Kai Millner — Higley High School, Gilbert, AZ
The Arizona Interscholastic Association has slated practices to start on September 7 with games scheduled as early as September 30. Higley’s first game is against Mountain Pointe on October 2.
4-star DE Akili Calhoun — Liberty High School, Brentwood, CA
The Lions are in the CIF-North Coast Section, and like all California High Schools, are scheduled to begin practice on December 14 with games no later than January 8.
3-star DE Derek Wilkins — Santa Margarita Catholic, Rancho Santa Margarita, CA
As part of the CIF-Trinity League, Santa Margarita is scheduled for practices starting on December 14 with a scrimmage currently scheduled for December 30. Games can start no sooner than January 7.
3-star CB Kaleb Higgins — Folsom High School, Folsom, CA
Part of the CIF-Sac-Joaquin Section, Folsom is like other CA schools, and start practice on December 14 with games in early January.
3-star OT Bastian Swinney — Edina High School, Minneapolis, MN
The Minnesota State High School League has pushed two fall sports to the spring. In such a move, they’re also pushing back spring sports to the summer to make room for football and volleyball, while the MSHSL allowed indoor sports to return this fall.
3-star OLB Moses Oladejo — Cosumnes Oaks High School, Elk Grove, CA
Elk Grove plays in the CIF-Sac-Joaquin Section and will attempt to start practices in December with games as potentially early as January 7.
3-star OT William Reed — Eastside Catholic, Sammamish, WA
The Washington Interscholastic Activities Association moved football, soccer and volleyball to the spring. Football activities are scheduled in a condensed calendar, starting in January.
3-star DE Myles Williams — Bishop Alemany High School, Mission Hills, CA
Alemany, one of the top teams in California, plays in the CIF-Mission League and will start practices on December. Games scheduled to take place in early January, like each and every other CA school listed.
3-star OLB Patrick Hisatake — Westview High School, Portland, OR
Oregon School Activities Association has planned to forge ahead with games as planned, roughly. Games start as early as September 3 and Westview’s first game is scheduled for September 4.
3-star S Hunter Barth — Queen Creek High School, Queen Creek, AZ
The Arizona Interscholastic Association has slated practices to start on September 7 with games scheduled as early as September 30.
3-star TE Keleki Latu — Jesuit High School, Carmichael, CA
Jesuit plays in the CIF-Sac-Joaquin Section and will start practices on December 14 with games starting January 7-8.
3-star OT Ryan Lange — Pittsburg High School, Pittsburg, CA
Pittsburg plays in the CIF-North-Coast Section. Games start in January with practice dates centered around a December 14 start date.
3-star CB Lu-Magia Hearns — De La Salle High School, Concord, CA
De La Salle plays in the CIF-North-Coast Section, and starts practices on December 14. Games start as early as January 7.
3-star S Fatuvalu Iosefa — Mililani High School, Mililani, HI
Hawaii High School Athletic Association has pushed the high school season back to at least January. Most fall prep sports await a start date for their seasons but practices seem pegged for early January.
3-star OG Dylan Jemtegaard — Yelm High School, Yelm, WA
The Washington Interscholastic Activities Association moved football, soccer and volleyball to the spring. Football activities are scheduled in a condensed calendar, starting in January.
