With the commitment of four-star receiver J. Michael Sturdivant last week, the California Golden Bears now have the third-most four-star players on their list of 2021 commitments in the entire Pac-12. They certainly don’t have the most total commits for this circuit, but those players committed, are good enough to rank them fifth overall in the conference.

In fact, out of the top seven programs in the Pac-12 in terms of recruiting rankings, only Cal has fewer than 11 total commitments to bolster their recruit ranking. As such, their 88.47 overall recruit ranking average is only behind that of USC and Oregon, each who have double-digit four-star players committed.

Cal now has five total four-star recruits committed for the class of 2021, over half of their total class so far (9).

They trail Oregon and USC, each who have 12 and 11 four-star players committed, respectively. Oregon is also one of just two teams to have a five-star player committed in the Pac-12, joining Washington.

Sturdivant made it five and he joins the following players:

TE Jermaine Terry — No. 7 TE in the country
WR Mavin Anderson — No. 49 WR in the country
QB Kai Millner — No. 17 pro-style QB in the country
DE Akili Calhoun — No. 22 weakside DE in the country

Sturdivant himself is ranked as the 34th-best WR in the nation and is the first Cal commit to crack the top 200 overall as he ranks 184th nationally.

This class is shaping up and what it lacks in total number of commits, it now makes up for in value as each of these players committed above are among the best in their states and at their position in the country.

Keep it going, Justin Wilcox, keep it going!
