Cal Athletics extend partnership with KGO Radio

The Bears and KGO have partnered for nearly 50 years, and it’s not ending anytime soon

The partnership between KGO Radio and the California Golden Bears isn’t going anywhere, anytime soon. Cal Athletics and Cal Bears Sports Properties announced a new multi-year broadcast agreement with Cumulus Media and their mainstay sports broadcast channel KGO 810 AM.

This extends the already decades-long partnership between KGO and Cal.

It also extends their broadcast with comprehensive coverage of the Golden Bears football and men’s basketball games.

New with the deal are added programming and promotional support through other media stations within the Cumulus Media market. Those include KNBR 104.5, 680; KNBR 1050; 107.7 The Bone; 560 KSFO.

Regularly scheduled interviews will continue and include football head coach Justin Wilcox, men’s basketball head coach Mark Fox as well as several other selected student-athletes in each respective sport on “The Sports Leader” KNBR 104.5/680.

As thrilled as Cal has to be to receive this extension, Cumulus has to also be excited.

Vice President for Cumulus San Francisco told CalBears “KGO-810 is pleased to announce the extension of broadcasting Cal football and basketball on KGO-810. This upcoming season will mark the 47th consecutive year KGO has served as the flagship of the Bears, one of the longest continuous broadcast partnerships in college or pro sports.”

Cumulus also agreed to promote Cal Athletics over their broad network of social media platforms as well.
