The California Golden Bears basketball team made waves just a day after the NFL draft stole all headlines from sports, announcing two new members of the basketball team via transfer — Ryan Betley and Jarred Hyder.
Betley is a graduate transfer from the University of Pennsylvania while Hyder was Fresno State’s starting point guard last season.
Betley wore number double zero for UPenn and started and played in 22 games this past season for the Quakers. He was fourth on the team in scoring by averaging 11.6 points per game and he reached double-figures 15 times. He has battled injuries the past two seasons and missed all but one game during the 2018-19 year while missing five games this past season.
Still, Betley is 10th all-time on Penn’s career 3-point field goals made list and the 6’5 guard has a nice pull-up jumper if highlight videos are to say anything about him.
Hyder was a freshman last season, making 24 starts in 26 games for the Bulldogs. He had a season-high 26 points against Winthrop and a season-high six assists against Air Force. He kept a clean sheet in terms of no turnovers against Cal this past season but he scored just two points in the season opener against Oregon — his lone two games against Pac-12 competition last year.
Either way, the duo are two solid additions to the November class as it stands right now.
