Cal to play Arizona in Week 7

The Bears will have a season finale, maybe

The California Golden Bears didn’t get a final game for their seniors, or well for any player, fan or member of the staff after they had to cancel their game against Washington State that was scheduled for this past Saturday.

But, as the Pac-12 Conference announced on Sunday, the Cal Bears will host the Arizona Wildcats in Week 7 of the Pac-12 2020 football season.

The Bears and Wildcats matchup is still officially set to be determined after the Bears will have to make enough players available following the outbreak that saw them cancel the game against the Cougars just hours ahead of kickoff.

The rest of the games set are as follows:

Washington @ USC — Pac-12 Championship Game on Friday at 5:00 pm

Washington State at Utah at 10:30 am
Stanford @ UCLA at 5:00 pm
Oregon vs Colorado (at USC) at 6:00 pm
Arizona State @ Oregon State at 7:30 pm

For Cal, the game against Arizona represents a very winnable contest after the Wildcats fired head coach Kevin Sumlin in the midst of a 12-game losing streak.

They just recently allowed 70 points to Arizona State, just the fifth time a Pac-12 team has scored 70 or more points in a conference game. It’s safe to say there are issues at Arizona right now.

If Cal can field this game and get a full enough roster to win, the Bears can increase their record to 2-3, a much more acceptable record by Cal standards even despite playing a season during a global pandemic.
