Week 2 game time versus Arizona State announced

The Cal Bears are (hopefully) back in action, finally

NCAA Football: Arizona State at Southern California Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The California Golden Bears were unable to kickoff their shortened football season in Week 1 with the rest (well, fine, not the rest) of the Pac-12 after a COVID-19 outbreak saw the Bears without the requisite number of scholarship athletes to field a complete roster under the conference’s guidelines.

With the tentative plan to be ready to play this weekend, the conference announced Cal’s new start time for their 2020 season and their impending matchup against the Arizona State Sun Devils (0-1) for their Week 2 matchup.

Cal will face off against Arizona State at 7:30 pm (10:30 pm ET) in one of four matchups classified in the ‘Pac-12 After Dark’ on the East Coast.

Arizona State lost their first game of the season in dramatic fashion to the USC Trojans after allowing two touchdowns in a matter of 1:32 off the game clock and a successful onside kick. The Sun Devils defense did a great job in the first three quarters and 12 minutes of action at limiting the potent Air Raid offense from USC but crumbled down the stretch.

Cal will hopefully be ready to play this weekend after they were the first game to be cancelled before Utah had to cancel their opener against Arizona due to a similar coronavirus outbreak.

The rest of the Pac-12 schedule is as follows:

No. 20 USC squares off against Arizona at 12:30 pm (3:30 pm ET)
Colorado matchups up against Stanford at 12:30 pm (3:30 pm ET)
No. 11 Oregon takes on Washington State at 4:00 pm (7:00 pm ET)
Utah faces off against UCLA at 7:30 pm (10:30 ET)
Oregon State travels to Washington at 8:00 pm (11:00 ET)

More on Cal’s impending season opener in the coming days this week.
