The Big Game: How to watch, an open thread on Cal vs Stanford

Here’s what we’re watching for today

NCAA Football: California at Oregon State Soobum Im-USA TODAY Sports

Both the California Golden Bears and Stanford Cardinal are desperate for a win in this shortened 2020 Pac-12 Football season. Both enter the 123rd iteration of the Big Game with matching 0-2 records, albeit under much different circumstances.

Cal has had two short weeks to prepare for opponents including just over 24 hours for one, a canceled game and a multitude of minor errors that have cost them another game.

Still, the Bears were in their game against Oregon State until the final whistle while the Cardinal, fresh off their first loss to Cal in nine years, have been a wreck across the field. There have been false positive tests for Covid-19, a canceled game for them, sluggish defense against a new quarterback from Colorado, and a struggling passing attack led by who they thought was their next Heisman contender in Davis Mills.

The 123rd Big Game sees Cal with the Axe and sees Cal in absolute need for a win. But it also sees Stanford with the same need.

There’s a ton to play for when the two teams meet today at 1:30 pm.
