Cal vs UCLA: How to watch, TV schedule, game prediction

Don’t miss out on the action — the Cal Bear action!

NCAA Football: Redbox Bowl-California vs Illinois Stan Szeto-USA TODAY Sports

The California Golden Bears are back in action, finally, and after a newly scheduled game announced on Friday for your Bears, Cal will take the field vs the UCLA Bruins to open their season today.

Coming live at the Rose Bowl on a Sunday, it feels almost like the holiday season for Cal Bear fans and here’s what we think can happen.

Game prediction

The Bears are by far the better team in this one, and that goes without even seeing the Bears in action this year. We saw UCLA struggle to win anywhere on the field against a Colorado Buffaloes team that was breaking in a new quarterback, new running back, multiple new players across the offense and defense as well as a new coach who hadn’t even gotten to meet his players until a few months ahead of the season.

By those measures, this Cal team is far superior to a Colorado team that just beat UCLA and the same should happen here. UCLA only scored on a couple of long plays due to defensive lapses in coverage and in run defense and a superior coached team should limit those.

Amidst a ton of moving pieces, the Bears get their first victory in their first action of the year, in dominant fashion.
