The California Golden Bears are 4-0 for the first time in the Justin Wilcox era.
Cal went into an SEC stadium and won.
Cal won as a ranked team on the road.
Cal has won all nine of its non-conference games under Wilcox.
Cal got 21 tackles from Evan Weaver, including a literally buzzer-beater stuff to end the game and preserve victory.
Cal saw Chase Garbers play his best game as a Golden Bear, as he made clutch throw after clutch throw (four touchdowns in all), plus recovering from what looked like a very bad injury to come back and put the Bears on top and keep them there.
Cal is likely the first football team to win games playing at 9 am and 1 am in their local time. As Weaver said factually postgame, “We woke up at 3 am our time this morning. We could have played at 1 am, 2 am.”
Cal got a little lucky thanks to some super questionable Pac-12 officiating. But Ole Miss beat themselves plenty (including on that last drive), but hey, it’s college football. There will always be shenangians.
A win’s a win’s a win.
GO BEARS!
