Predict the 2019 Cal Football Season

Who’s ready for some rock fights?

NCAA Football: Texas at California John Hefti-USA TODAY Sports

The 2018 California Golden Bears featured one of the most dominant Cal defenses many of us have ever seen coupled with one of the most inept, explosive-in-all-the-wrong-ways offenses we have ever seen. The defense thankfully returns many familiar faces while the offense brings several new faces, for better or for worse (I’d ask if it could possibly get worse, but this past basketball season was a gentle reminder that it can always get worse). While we largely know what to expect from the defense this year, the offense will likely make the difference between a decent year and a spectacular one. Can Baldwin recapture the magic of his Eastern Washington offenses or will he continue to try to cram a square peg into an electrical outlet?

As we look ahead to the 2019 season, we return to a familiar exercise. This is the tenth (!) year we’ve run our Cal football season predictions and the formula remains the same: for each of Cal’s opponents, we want you to tell us how likely the Bears are to defeat that opponent. If you think we have a 99% chance of beating UC Davis, put “99” in the appropriate field. Likewise, put “50” for 50%, “75” for 75%, and so on. If this is too confusing for you, you may want to find a more accommodating fanbase. If you’re feeling ambitious, you can add up your predictions and divide by 100 to get a projected number of wins for the season.

Get those responses in by May 10th and I’ll post the results in the coming weeks. Thanks for participating and Go Bears!
