After Charles Smith IV asked for his release last week, the outlook was not great on the other signees staying onboard. Good Friday came along and was good for the program in more ways than one. Joel Brown re-affirmed his decision to come to Berkeley, followed shortly after by DJ Thorpe.

If we’re in the business of reaffirming... I’m all in @CalMBBall

The bears desperately needed to replenish some of their lost talent and could not afford to lose more recruits. Fox and his staff seem to have alleviated some of the initial losses by keeping on both of the remaining signees. Brown will look to challenge Paris Austin for the starting PG role, while Thorpe could be in line to be in the low post rotation with Andre Kelly.
