As Cal women’s soccer alum Alex Morgan seeks to lead USA Women’s National Soccer Team to a 4th Women’s World Cup victory this June from France, she got one big milestone out of the way in the two March friendlies this past weekend.

Against Australia in Colorado, Alex Morgan got her 100th International goal. Morgan became only the 7th American to achieve this feat. It was a goal that shows Alex Morgan at her best with her strength and skill resulting in this nice strike.

It was a moment that USWNT and fans have been preparing for for a few matches now. Morgan got her 99th goal against Japan back in February and played in two additional matches as a part of the SheBelieves Cup.

USWNT posted several tributes to Alex Morgan’s great international career on Social Media.

Here is her now younger teammates talking about the legend that is Alex Morgan.

Here are Alex Morgan’s first 100 International goals by numbers. Morgan is the 3rd youngest player to achieve this feat.

Alex Morgan scored her first International goal while still a student-athlete at Cal. Her senior season production was strongly capped by her USWNT duties. Her most prolific season came in 2012, when Morgan helped USWNT to an Olympic Gold en route to 28 goals.

While her scoring rate has dropped a bit over the years, due to both injuries and the vast improvements of Women’s International Soccer, Morgan found her mojo at the halfway point of 2018 to return to her previous scoring rate of nearly a goal a match.

Even with some other young strikers on the USWNT who are ready to help shoulder some of the scoring burden, Alex Morgan will be the focal point of the USA attack in France this June. USWNT’s success will likely be closely tied to how many goal Alex Morgan will scored.

After her milestone goal from Colorado, Morgan and USWNT played Belgium in LA where the 1999 USWNT team were honored.

Several actresses showed their love for the USWNT legend, but Natalie Portman is wearing an Alex Morgan jersey instead.

Morgan quickly added to her total and got goal No.101 in that Belgium match. This time, it was an easy chip over the goalie.

USWNT has 3 more friendlies in May, against South Africa, New Zealand, and Mexico. The Women’s World Cup starts on June 11th, when Alex Morgan and company will face off against another Cal alum in Miranda Nild and the Thai national team.

GO ALEX AND ROLL ON YOU BEARS!
