Jason Kidd was a guest on The Jump on ESPN, hosted by Rachel Nichols. Kidd has been mentioned as a possible candidate for the HC position and to see him address it on national media coverage is huge. Nichols asked Kidd about the vacancy right off the bat.
Rachel Nichols asked “I do want to start though, the vacant head coaching job at Cal, let’s just get this out of the way. How do you feel about it?”
Jason Kidd responded, “I think Cal is a great institution. We’ll see what happens. I would love to get back to coaching at any level, college or the NBA. So, it’s nice to be wanted. That just tells me I’m doing the right thing. The year off helped me clean up some things too. Just to refocus and to have that energy, understanding the kids being around the AAU circuit a little bit, and understanding what’s more important to the kids today.”
Jason Kidd was a two year starter. He was also National Freshman of the Year in 92-93 and guided Cal to Sweet 16 that season. Kidd was the Pac-10 Player of the Year in 93-94 and an AP All-American First Team in 93-94.
