MBB Insta Recap: CAL WINS 76-73

No wins for the Huskies in Berkeley this year.

NCAA Basketball: Washington at California Darren Yamashita-USA TODAY Sports

The first half of this game looked extremely similar to the last time. Cal went into the half with a narrow one point lead, however, there were many issues that didn’t go unnoticed. Defensively, Cal gave up quite a few open three point shots. This allowed Husky guard David Crisp to erupt for 21 points, shooting 5-8 from the three point line. Offensively for the Bears, they found the soft spot of the Washington 2-3 zone, getting the ball to the high post on many possessions. Darius McNeill led the Bears in scoring at the half with 17 points on 5-7 shooting.

The second half was good basketball on both sides. Cal led by 5 with under eight minutes to play, and momentum remained in their favor until the end of the game. The game came down to the last possession. Throughout the second half, Cal made good plays on both sides of the floor that seemed to happen because of good halftime adjustments by Coach Jones and staff. 40 minutes of solid play by the Golden Bears got us out first win of Pac-21 play (and 2019) against the best team in the conference. It’s a great night to be a Bear.

THE CALIFORNIA GOLDENS BEARS HAVE BEATEN THE WASHINGTON HUSKIES. WHAT A TIME TO BE ALIVE.

David Crisp would finish the game with 32 points for the Huskies, while Darius McNeill finished with 19 points.
