Earning Pac-12 Women’s Tennis Player of the Week honor is Cal Women’s Tennis sophomore Julia Rosenqvist.

The Cal sophomore was a perfect 4-0 with 2 doubles wins, with partner Hana Mraz as the No.1 doubles pair, and 2 singles wins, as the No.1 singles player for the Golden Bears. The wins came on the road against San Diego State and 7th ranked Pepperdine. In the upset over Pepperdine, Rosenqvist got the clinching win when she defeated Pepperdine’s Ashley Lahey 6-3, 6-7(2), 6-4.

With those wins, Cal Women’s Tennis (4-1) is now back in the national rankings. Bears are ranked 19th by Tennis Channel USTA Top 25 and 24th by Oracle ITA rankings.

Julia Rosenqvist and partner Hana Mraz are ranked as the 28th best doubles pair in the country. Rosenqvist is also ranked 45th in the country individually in singles.

Rosenqvist joined the Cal team in the Spring of the 2018 season (almost exactly a year ago). The Swedish native took over the No.1 singles position for the Bears right away. She played as an individual at the NCAA singles championship last year but was eliminated in the opening round (Round of 64).

The Cal Golden Bears have 3 very tough contests in a row this weekend when they host National runner-ups Vanderbilt on Friday before UCLA on Saturday and USC on Sunday in the non-conference dual meet against the LA schools.
