Another piece for the 2020 class

As we close in on the early signing period deadline, December 18th, Cal got the good news that Mason Mangum committed to the Bears after visiting campus last weekend.

Mangum had previously committed to Arkansas but decommitted after Chad Morris was let go. His offer list includes Red Box Bowl opponent Illinois, Colorado, Vanderbilt and SMU (Sonny!).

Mangum measures out at 6’0” and looks like he could potentially line up in the slot a la Makai Polk. However his tape does show him lining up at outside receiver.

I may be potentially reading tea leaves here but I consider it a good sign that Mangum committed even with the news that Baldwin was leaving and that Burl Toler was the lead recruiter. That could indicate that Toler has a good chance to remain with the program even with a new offensive coordinator coming in.

Let’s give Mason a big Cal welcome to the Golden Bear Family! Go Bears!
