Cal women’s basketball ends losing streak against USC

Much needed win for the Bears.

The California Golden Bears snapped a tough losing streak with a much needed win against the USC Trojans, winning by the final score of 66-59. Kristine Anigwe led the way for the Bears with 21 points and 16 rebounds, but fouled out in the 4th quarter and the Bears had to sweat out a bit of a Trojan run at the end.

USC led a furious charge back from to cut an 18 point lead to six, but it ultimately fizzled out.

Cal got solid contributions from Asha Thomas (12 points), Recee’ Caldwell and MacKenzie Forbes (9). Here’s the box score.

Here’s the current Pac-12 women’s basketball standings. Cal currently sits around the middle of the conference.

A tough road trip awaits the Bears in Arizona, before they come home for the downtrodden Washington schools. 3 wins out of 4 would be huge for Cal in the next two weeks. The USC win was already major progress.
