Update on Cal’s uniforms and captains for Cal–BYU

All the final details before tonight’s game.

Although the California Golden Bears will be visiting the BYU Cougars at their home in Provo, the Cougars decided tonight’s game will be a white-out—but maybe with the BYU demographics, declaring a white-out and all-white isn’t the best decision...

To counter this, the Bears will be taking the field in our all-blues.

And when the blue Bears take the field, they will be lead by our year’s captains (Patrick Laird and Jordan Kunaszyk) and our game captains, who were announced to be Camryn Bynum and Addison Ooms.

C Ooms played in three games as a redshirt-freshman and started all of the last 25 games Cal games (over the past two seasons plus one game). A redshirt-senior, Ooms was a once-walk-o who earned his scholarship and is on the preseason watchlist for the Rimington Trophy.

On the defense, CB Bynum was credited with a mere three tackles against the North Carolina Tar Heels, but that’s certainly not where his impact was felt. He had four pass break-ups, shut down star WR Anthony Ratliff-Williams, and was just impressive all over the field. My favorite play of Bynum’s occurred when the Tar Heels started picking up the tempo in the first quarter and our defense came out poorly aligned with Bynum at a 3-on-1 disadvantage... Too bad Bynum doesn’t care about those numbers and was still integral in breaking up that play.

Kudos to Bynum and Ooms for the honor and go Bears!
