Cal roster updates: Gerran Brown forced to medically retire, Greyson Bankhead out for the season with an upper body injury, Matt Laris no longer with the program

Gerran Brown and Greyson Bankhead were projected to be contributors to the team with Brown being a key member of the ILB rotation after acquitting himself well in the 2017 season, in which he began the year as a back-up, but started four of the final five games.
Matt Laris was recruited as a WR and was moved to TE but did not record any game-time statistics.
