The desert continues to be kind to the California Golden Bears thanks to special teams coordinator Charlie Ragle.
DeCarlos Brooks—a three-star athlete from Chandler, Arizona—announced his commitment to the Bears on Twitter last night!

Brooks is heading into his junior year (Class of 2019) with experience at cornerback and running back; credit also goes to Burl Toler III in Brooks’s recruitment. Cal won out among offers from the Army Black Knights, the Memphis Tigers, and the Oregon State Beavers. For another Cal connection, Brooks plays at the same high school as Cameron Jordan!
Football is in Brooks’s blood as his father—Carlos Brooks—played cornerback for the Arizona Cardinals. DeCarlos played corner (like his father) for his 6A state championship–winning season last year, but prefers running back with a “downhill” running style with a 40-yard dash time of 4.73 seconds.
“I taught [DeCarlos] a lot, and he was a sponge, but he said, ‘Dad, I want to go back to running back,’ ” Carlos said. “I think they’re a one-two punch that every team dreams about having. You’ve got a strong, hard-nosed runner, and you’ve got a shifty, quick fast back.”
Welcome to Cal, DeCarlos!
