2019 3* OLB Curley Young Jr. Commits to Cal

Out of Pflugerville, Texas comes another LB

Curley Young joins Puskas as the second OLB recruit to come to Cal. Curley boasts offers from Arizona, Rice, Air Force, and Army.

He is a composite 3* per 247 and Rivals. Also, per 247 he was predicted to go to ex-Cal HC Sonny Dykes’ SMU with 100% certainty.

Per his Hudl page he runs a 4.69 40. He is long and played primarily with his hand on the ground in HS, rushing from primarily 4-3 DE spot but has had plays as a 3-4 OLB. He projects to make the same transition into a fulltime 3-4 OLB as Alex Funches, let’s hope he will make the same impact on the field as his senior and fellow Texan.

Note that his long arms are a tremendous physical tool for a rusher since it allows him to be able to keep his chest clean when engaging with OL.

Welcome to Cal! Go Bears!
