In 2017, Cal’s game against Colorado was one of our better chances to get bowl eligible. The Buffs themselves didn’t make it to a bowl, and their team was unspectacular in most aspects of the game. Somehow, though, they put up 44 points on us and threw for their biggest day of the season. In this video, I look at some of the details of how Cal plays coverage, and show how one particular passing concept messed up our coverage rules, sprung guys wide open, and created favorable matchups even for the receivers that were covered.
