Big Bad Vic is headed to New York to Join Chad Hansen

NCAA Football: Texas at California John Hefti-USA TODAY Sports

Per his Instagram post, RB Vic Enwere is to join the New York Jets as an UDFA.

Vic entered the California Golden Bears during the Sonny Dykes era and had his greatest games against the flagship team: the Texas Longhorns.

He was a highly-regarded back who was expected to form a dangerous 1–2 punch with fellow recruit Tre Watson.

Vic was deployed as the power back for the California Golden Bears to mixed effect—he struggled in some short-yardage situations (hard to say whether it was playcalling, blocking, or relative lack of shiftiness), but was actually quite productive overall, averaging 4.7 YPC over his career despite an... inconsistent commitment to running the ball.

At 245 lbs, Vic certainly has the size and strength to succeed at the next level. However, he’ll need to continue to improve his decisiveness and ability to make quick cuts, as well as his ability to make catches coming out of the backfield.

Vic’s most memorable play, for me, will be the first down he got by running out of the shotgun while facing 3rd and 36 from deep in Cal territory.

Best of luck to the one and only Big Bad Vic Enwere!
