It’s a big day for Cal Gymnastics fan as the men are also in action at their NCAA Qualifier.

In this qualifier, Golden Bears are seeking a top 3 finish in a strong group with defending champ Oklahoma, Iowa, Penn State, Illinois, and Ohio State. A top 3 team finish, or a top 3 as an individual in either all-around or a particular event is needed to make the Saturday final session at 4 pm PT.

NCAA.com will have the streams of all of the action from Chicago, Illinois.

Last year, 3 Golden Bears advanced as individuals - Aaron Mah, Michael Rauchwerger, and Yordan Aleksandrov. All three of these guys are back on the 2018 squad.

At the MPSF championship, the Golden Bears finished 3rd behind Oklahoma and Stanford but ahead of Air Force with Aleksandrov winning the horizontal bar event. Cal Men’s Gymnastics may be one of the most underrated program on campus, being consistently in the top 15 (if not top 10). Unfortunately, the Bears typically just compete against a top 3 Stanford teams on a weekly basis. Bears finished 5th in the nation as recently as the 2015 season. Coming into 2018, Golden Bears former assistant JT Okada to new head coach without really missing a beat.

Cal Men’s Gymnastics have won 4 NCAA national championships in its history, the most recent one came in 1998.
