Roundtables: NSD that doesn’t feel like NSD.

Early signing period took away the mayhem of NSD.

Cal has a few open scholarships heading into National Signing Day. What positions would you like to see shored up? Are there any prospects that you have seen that intrigue you?

Rob Hwang: Linebacker and Defensive Line are the two spots that we need to shore up. Losing starters and also some key contributors due to graduation and other reasons hurts our depth going into next season. Next seasons starters wont be an issue but the question will be the depth and rotation behind the starters. Most of the key targets for the DL are off the board, but I’d like to see us reel in the another LB and it could be recent Baylor decommit Joey Ogunbanjo. We’ll see how it plays out when he announces on NSD.

boomtho: I would like to see Wilcox & Co continue to reinforce the defense, with slightly higher need at LB and DB vs DL. Per Rivals, we only have 2 DB commits, and 3 LB commits. The staff has shown they can do a great job coaching up depth.

thedozen: In the intriguing prospect department, I will choose a cornerback from my backyard in four-star prospect Olaijah Griffin out of Mission Viejo. Cal has made him an offer, although he racked up more than a dozen from what I’ve read. Wilcox seems firmly committed to defensive success, and a guy like Griffin couldn’t hurt that mission.
