The Bears roared out of the gate knocking in their 7 first shot attempts, but then proceeded to only make 5 out of 15 the rest of the half. Defensively, the Bears bled points in the paint through lay-ups and weakside lobs. They gave up 22 points in the paint. 5 assists to 9 turnovers is not a good ratio at all. Darius McNeill had 14 points in the first 10 minutes then went scoreless the rest of the half. Shamorie Ponds took advantage of the Cal zone from the elbows, scoring 16 points on 7-10 shooting.
The Bears played themselves into the game down the stretch, but could not get enough stops and make enough baskets to close the one possession lead change that happened the last 5 minutes.
