Braxten Croteau (DE) and Ryan Puskas (DB) put in a good defensive effort to keep Liberty’s season going, but they fell 15-12 to Highland in a second-round playoff matchup in Arizona. Croteau made six tackles, one pass breakup and forced a fumble while Puskas made 10 tackles. Liberty finished the season with a record of 10-2. Croteau’s season totals amount to 68 tackles, 18 tackles for a loss, and eight sacks. Puskas ended up with 78 tackles and two interceptions this season. Linfield Christian and offensive lineman Ben Coleman continued their dominant season with a 69-33 second-round victory over Bell Gardens. 11-1 Linfield Christian will take on Xavier Prep next.
Offensive lineman Brian Driscoll and Torrey Pines improved to 10-0 with a 35-28 first-round playoff victory against San Marcos. Up next is a meeting with Cathedral Catholic.
Chandler improved to 11-1 after vanquishing Mountain Pointe 49-21 in a second-round playoff game. Running back DeCarlos Brooks has been running wild all season to this point and he outdid himself with his effort against Mountain Pointe. Brooks rushed 30 times for 248 yards and FIVE rushing touchdowns! That’s not all though, as he also caught three passes for 69 yards and another touchdown. Up next is a semi-final matchup with Highland after their upset victory against Liberty.
In a matchup between Cal commits Brayden Rohme (OL) and Brett Johnson (DT), it was Rohme’s Perry Pumas who picked up the win against Johnson’s Desert Vista squad 49-20. Perry has now improved to 10-2 while Desert Vista finished the season with a 10-2 record. Up next for Perry is a playoff game against Pinnacle. Johnson’s highlight is below.
Upland picked up another tightly-contested playoff win, this time against Norco by a score of 33-28. Defensive back Zahran Manley recorded three tackles and one interception. Upland will carry a 9-2 record into their playoff game against Calabasas.
Mansfield and defensive back Miles Williams managed to end a difficult season on a high-note as they defeated Grand Prairie 9-0 to finish the season with a record of 3-7.
Offensive lineman McKade Mettauer and The Woodlands got back on track with a 63-7 win against Klein Forest to finish the regular season with a record of 7-3. Up next is a first round playoff game against Benjamin Davis, a high school in Houston, Texas. Below is a video clip of part of Mettauer’s performance against Klein Forest.
Rainier Beach and linebacker Orin Patu extended their winning streak to three games after a 14-7 first-round playoff victory over Lincoln. Up next is a second-round game against Mountain View.
Linebacker Curley Young Jr. and his Hendrickson squad have now won three games in-a-row to finish the regular season 7-2 after defeating McNeil 28-26. Up next is a first-round playoff game against Cypress Ranch.
