Game captains and uniforms for Cal–USC

How the Bears will take LA.

The possibility exists that we’ll see more of this tonight and I want it.

The California Golden Bears will storm the new home of Jared Goff—LA Memorial Coliseum—to battle the USC Trojans; the Bears will be wearing our road white jerseys with blue pants.

Our game captains were announced earlier today with one representing offense and one on defense (although both do contribute to special teams).

Jaylinn Hawkins is a redshirt-junior member of the Takers with 33 games (and 22 starts) under his belt. This year, Hawkins has played in all nine games so far—starting all but one, which was due to a targeting-related suspension. Hawkins has taken the ball three times this year, two of which came in our season opener against the North Carolina Tar Heels and really set the tone for what it means to be the Cal defense this year.

Malik McMorris is an absolute fan favorite and a perennial nominee for the Piesman Trophy. The senior does it all—lining up at fullback, tight end, and H-back on the grid iron and making it to the NCAA Championships in discus and shot put with our Track and Field program. Although he has yet to have a jaw-dropping Piesman-worthy play yet this year, he’s no stranger to the endzone. McMorris has caught two touchdowns this year alone (adding to one rushing touchdown and two receiving touchdowns from previous seasons). Across his career, McMorris has played in all 46 possible games with 16 starts (with four of those starts coming this season).

Kudos to Jaylinn and Malik for earning this honor and contributing so much to the team!
