Game captains and uniforms for Cal–Washington

Some final details before today’s kick-off.

Returning to our home stadium, the California Golden Bears will return to our classic home combination—blue jerseys and gold pants

Our blue-and-gold Bears will be led onto the field by today’s game captains—Camryn Bynum and Ian Bunting.

TE Ian Bunting is a grad-transfer from the Michigan Wolverines; in his one year with us as a redshirt-senior, Bunting has played in all seven games with two of them being starts. With the reintroduction of the tight end into our offense and Bunting’s ideal size and experience, he has become a quality asset for us. Although he did not record any receptions against the Oregon State Beavers, Bunting caught 11 passes in the four prior games.

CB Camryn Bynum is closer to the other end of the tenure spectrum. Only a redshirt sophomore, Bynum is one of my favorite players to watch on defense and probably my favorite defensive back to watch. Bynum has started all of his 19 eligible games and that experience has drastically improved his play. For this year, Bynum has 20 total tackles, six pass break-ups, and one interception; however, a defensive player’s importance is often belied by his stats. If you watch Bynum play, then you’ll see an on-field lecture on how to cover—and shut down—opposing receivers.

Good luck to Ian and Camryn and beat the Huskies!
