Cal Alum Bob Melvin wins AL Manager of the Year

Former Cal Catcher Bob Melvin won his second Manager of the Year award! He won his first one in 2007 with the Arizona Diamondbacks. Bob Melvin led the Oakland As to a 97-65 record, best for second in the AL West along with a playoff berth.

Bob Melvin was a freshman catcher on Cal’s 1981 College World Series team that finished in 3rd place.
