Anusiem had a big day to lead Sonora to victory. How did the other Cal commits fare in their contests?

Nikko Remigio: WR, Mater Dei (Santa Ana, CA)

Mater Dei continued its phenomenal start to the season with a 62-14 beatdown of New Jersey squad Bergen Catholic. Remigio had his worst game of the season statistically as he reeled in two passes for 44 yards.

JT Shrout: QB, Hart (Newhall, CA)

Shrout and the Indians lost a 44-38 shootout against Antelope Valley. Hart fell behind 20-0 in the first quarter before storming back with a 25-0 second quarter. Antelope Valley beat them in both the third and fourth quarter, though, to pull out the victory.

Shrout completed just 14 out of 34 passes for 184 yards, but he did throw three touchdowns and one interception.

Will Craig (OL) and Evan Tattersall (LB/RB): Granite Bay (Granite Bay, CA)

Granite Bay improved to 4-0 this season with a 21-20 win against Vacaville. Tattersall rushed 12 times for 39 yards and one touchdown. Meanwhile, he notched 6 tackles on the defensive side of the ball. His touchdown run is in the video below.

Chigozie Anusiem: CB, Sonora (La Habra, CA)

Sonora continued its winning ways coming off of its bye week by defeating Esperanza 33-22 to improve to 3-0 this season. Anusiem rushed once for 18 yards and caught six passes for 111 yards and one touchdown. He also shows off some nifty moves on punt return duties despite not returning one for a touchdown.

McCallan Castles: TE, South Tahoe (South Lake Tahoe, CA)

South Tahoe’s offensive woes from week two continued in their third contest as they suffered a 26-0 shutout at the hands of Fernley (NV). South Tahoe dropped to 1-2 on the season.

Omari Harris: RB/LB, Antioch (Antioch, CA)

Antioch’s unbeaten start to the season came to a screeching halt with a 55-22 loss to Clayton Valley Charter. Harris rushed six times for 12 yards and one touchdown. He also lost one fumble. Harris makes a couple of open-field tackles in the video below.

Nick Alftin: DE, Archbishop Mitty (San Jose, CA)

Archbishop Mitty was on a bye week.

Atonio Mafi: DT, Junipero Serra (San Mateo, CA)

Serra was also on a bye week.

Miles Owens: OL, Bishop O’Dowd (Oakland, CA)

Bishop O’Dowd continued its complete domination of opponents to start this season 3-0 after winning 56-7 against St. Mary’s.

Brandon Mello: OL, Clayton Valley Charter (Concord, CA)

After an ugly start to the season, the Ugly Eagles are now riding a two-game winning streak after its surprising win over Antioch. Clayton Valley Charter is now 2-2 this season.

JH Tevis: DE, Menlo (Atherton, CA)

Menlo dropped to 2-2 this season after losing 29-14 to Palma. Tevis registered four tackles, three tackles for a loss, and two sacks.

Jasper Friis: OL, Aquinas (San Bernardino, CA)

Aquinas is now 4-0 this season after beating Xavier Prep 58-3. Aquinas has outscored its opponents 189 to 45 so far and are firing on all cylinders.

Matthew Cindric: DL, Skyline (Sammamish, WA)

Skyline dropped to 1-2 this season as they suffered a 34-27 defeat to Bothell, Ross Bowers’ high school alma mater. Cindric ended the game with six tackles and one sack.

Slater Zellers: OL/LS, Notre Dame Prep (Scottsdale, AZ)

Notre Dame prep had a bye week.
