Cal vs. North Carolina, 2nd quarter: ITS ALL TIED UP. 7-7.

The first quarter showcased a sturdy Cal defense. Now can the offense find its groove in the second quarter?

NCAA Football: North Carolina State at North Carolina Rob Kinnan-USA TODAY Sports

The California Golden Bears’ first defensive possession against the North Carolina Tar Heels? -1 yard and a 3 and out. The second? James Looney comes up with a sack and loss of 9 to force UNC to punt

Cal’s first offensive possession? 1 first down and then a punt. The second? 3 & out again.

It didn’t start pretty for the offense, but the for the much maligned defense? They played stellar possession after possession. The offense marched down the field where Ross Bowers threw his first TD pass of his career to Jordan Veasy. UNC scored on the ensuing drive off of some great running from RB Michael Carter. We start the 2nd. 7-7.
