The California Golden Bears know their fastest way back to relevance in basketball is a quick influx of talent. Cal has already made progress with their 2018 recruiting class, landing the early commitments of four-star prospects like Matt Bradley and Jacobi Gordon.
But the Bears are far from done. They’re aiming for the best of the best.
There is no bigger target for Wyking Jones and Cal than Roseville (Ca.) Woodcreek forward Jordan Brown. The top five national prospect and the Northern California prospect has had Cal high up for a long time, and his star continues to remain constant.

Adam Zagoria caught up with Brown’s father Dion, and he’s keeping Cal high up in his mix. However, with the coaching change, it’s more of a wait-and-see with what the new Bears will bring with Jones at the helm instead of Cuonzo Martin.
“They’re here, they’re on the West Coast,” Dion said. “I gotta pay a little more attention to what’s going on with Cal and the new coach. They’re still in there. Everything started with Cuonzo [Martin] when he was there, now of course he’s gone. Now I want to see what they got going.
Cal has been one of the primary favorites for landing Brown for a long time. UCLA and (surprisingly) St. John’s are also mentioned prominently in Zagoria’s article. Expect this recruiting battle to keep on progressing far into the fall.
