The California Golden Bears recruiting update you’ve all been waiting for. Five-star power forward Jordan Brown puts Cal in his top seven. Aside from Cal, the Gonzaga Bulldogs, the UL-Lafayette, Nevada Wolfpack, the Oregon Ducks, the St. John's Red Storm and UCLA Bruins.

Good news: No Arizona on this list. No Kentucky on this list either. Cal is happy.

Eric Bossi of Rivals has more:

“It's the development and he wants to be playing with high level players and against high level players on a consistent basis," the elder Brown told Rivals.com. "He’s very much motivated to show what he’s about.

"He was playing with tape and braces but was still going at it. He’s stepping it up in the weight room and he really wants to accept this challenge and show that he can play against quality players on a consistent basis and be effective.”

Brown is target number one for Cal basketball in this recruiting class. Cal has two commits in four-star guard Matt Bradley and four-star forward Jacobi Gordon. But Brown has been the top target forever. The Bears have wanted the Roseville prospect for a long time, as his talent has been obvious from the beginning.

Can Cal basketball really land three five-star prospects within four recruiting cycles? It would be a pretty amazing run of recruiting luck. Still a long way to go, but the Bears have to love their position.
