The California Golden Bears have already made significant boosts to their offensive line class, with two big verbals this month and three overall. Here are the current commits.
- Four-star Will Craig from Granite Bay
- Three-star Miles Owens from Oakland
- Three-star Jasper Friis from San Bernardino
The Bears aren’t stopping here though. With Cal’s offensive line depth perilously thin this season, getting five or six quality bodies in there quickly will be paramount.
Meet the newest Cal target, offensive lineman Matthew Cindric. Cindric lists Cal in his top six, along with Arizona, Oregon State, UCLA, Utah and Washington State. There are still potential offers from Washington and Oregon as well.
Cindric is ranked as the 111th best offensive tackle and the 11th best prospect in the state of Washington by 247Sports Composite. Here are his highlights:
The signs are good. Cindric has visited Cal already on an unofficial. And among the programs recruiting him, Cindric has Cal near the top. More from Brandon Huffman of Scout.
"Right now I would say Cal, Utah and Washington State are standing out and I have talked the most with these three schools," said Cindric. "Coach (Steve) Greatwood and Coach (Beau) Baldwin at Cal, Coach (Clay) McGuire and Coach (Eric) Mele at Washington State and Coach (Justin) Ena have been the coaches I've got the best relationship with."
A decision for Cindric is likely forthcoming very soon.
"I will commit in mid to late August," said Cindric. "And hopefully I'll sign in December but I'm not sure yet."
Steve Greatwood is looking fast like the most important Cal hire Justin Wilcox made this winter. His recruiting acumen will be critical to a quick Golden Bear rebuild.
