Greetings from Bulgaria!
Football
- (Pro): Jared Goff, due to his debut 1-11 season at Cal, is in a familiar position now trying to get the Rams back to glory after a tough first season. Note this is a LONG essay but is worth the read. It has quotes from his parents, and an extensive look at his time at Marin Catholic and Cal.
“I think there were a lot of things we went through and had to learn from and ultimately, it was changing the culture, and changing the expectation in the building,” Jared says. “And I was a part of that but I wasn’t the only part of that — there were a bunch of guys there with me that were pulling their weight as well. And I’m proud to say I was a part of it but by no means was I the only person behind that. It was a group effort.”
“No team has ever gone 1-11 and then to a bowl game the next year in college football. And they could’ve done that. There were a couple of games that they probably could have won [but] didn’t,” Jerry says. “They ended up 5-8, and then yeah, they moved on.
- From Bay Area Media Day - Cal and Stanford talk about learning about recruits by their social media.
- Greg Biggins analyzes newest Cal commit (or one of them, at least) Will Craig.
Most of these are old and I missed them last time, or they were launched just as I finished the last GN.
- Golden Bear Report’s takeaways from Pac-12 Media Day.
- James Looney noticed something was different about Justin Wilcox (as opposed to Sonny, I guess? Its not clear) his first week as coach.
- Justin Wilcox talks about Aaron Rodgers’ relationship with Cal now that he is the coach.
