My timing luck wasn’t very good... I had to leave Budapest just as the FINA Swimming matches are starting, I’m in Transylvania now.
Football
- Earlier, we told you that Athlon Sports ranked Justin Wilcox as the worst coach among the Power 5 conferences. This time they just ranked all the FBS teams and Cal ranked 79 (of 130), (EDIT: Make that 76) and ahead of several Power 5 teams... but obviously still pretty low (any reason to dispute them though?)
- Learn more about Ethan Rae, a tight end that Cal has offered. This video interview has him break down his visits to multiple schools, including Cal, UW and USC.
- Trace Travers looks back at the week that was, including all the award watch lists, and a decommit.
Basketball
- Darius McNeill is officially a Cal Bear!
Misc.
- Upcoming women’s soccer senior Indigo Gibson will be one of 24 players joining the US Under-23 Women’s National Team training camp in Seattle. Congrats!
- Cal women’s water polo is already well represented at the FINA games in Hungary. Now they have representatives at the FINA Junior World Championships and World University Games! The Junior World Championships are in Greece in September and Team USA will be coached by Cal coach Coralie Simmons and goalie Madison Tagg made the roster as an alternate. Stephanie Mutafyan, a recent alum, will be in the World University Games in Taiwan for the USA.
Du-te Ursi!
