Per Cal Bears, our new punter, Steven Coutts was added to the prestigious Ray Guy award watch list for the best punter in the FBS.
The Ray Guy Award committee will announce 10 semifinalists for the 2017 award on Thursday, November 16 and three finalists on Tuesday, November 21. The winner will be announced live at the Home Depot College Football Awards Red Carpet Show televised by ESPNU on Thursday, December 7, 2017.
Here are his statistics from his 2 seasons at Louisiana-Lafayette according to cfbstats. Coutts averaged over 42 yards per punt in 2015 and elevated it over 44 yards in 2016. If he performs at this level he will definitely be one of the most productive punters out there and in consideration for the award.
