Ivan Rabb can be an underrated valuable contributor to a playoff team next season. Which squad will end up taking him?
DraftExpress has the San Antonio Spurs selecting Ivan Rabb with the 29th overall pick.
The Spurs make a ton of sense for Ivan Rabb. LaMarcus Aldridge is passing the midpoint of his contract and the Spurs will need to think beyond next season (with uncertain situations regarding Dewayne Dedmon, David Lee, and an aging Pau Gasol). Rabb figures to be a solid solution as a backup big man, and has the versatility to play in San Antonio’s defensive schemes.
Sports Illustrated also puts Rabb on the Spurs in their latest mock draft.
NBA.com places Rabb on the Portland Trailblazers with the 26th overall pick.
Portland has a deep need for big men, particularly to back up Jusuf Nurkic. Meyers Leonard just cannot stay on the floor, Festus Ezeli is injury-prone and likely on his last real NBA contract, and relying on Ed Davis and Noah Vonleh are both dicey propositions. Rabb could provide the Blazers with much needed defensive versatility at the big positions and help complement Nurkic long-term. Also, wouldn’t it be fun to see Rabb and Allen Crabbe on the same team?
SB Nation had a team blog style draft that had the Orlando Magic taking Rabb with the 25th pick.
The Magic are kind of in a strange position where they still have a ton of big men, but none of them are quite fitting right. Bismack Biyombo, Nikola Vucevic and Aaron Gordon make for a bit of an odd combination right now. Rabb could try and help bolster that rotation.
There are tons of other teams that could be interested in Rabb, so don’t expect these mock drafts to be an actual projection.
Where could you see Rabb being a good fit in the NBA?
