Some notes on the California Golden Bears depth chart:
- A lot of speed on the 1st string but not a lot of size. This may lead them to be susceptible to the man-press by bigger DBs (think the way Seahawks DBs do their press Cover-3).
- We have bigger WRs in the 2nd/3rd string with Veasy/Duncan and Taariq Johnson, so it is reasonable that we will switch the WRs in and out as needed.
- True FR Jake Curhan gets the nod at RT with Patrick Mekari at LT, all but Curhan are older players (JRs or Red Shirt JRs).
- Both Vic Enwere and Patrick Laird are -or- at 2nd String.
- Malik McMorris continues to be slated at FB despite taking TE drills etc.
- Goode + Saffle will make a good pass rush.
- Surprise: Ude over Evan Weaver at OLB.
- ILBs are the mainstays in Downs and Davison.
- Elijah Hicks hype is real as he is slated at 2nd string with Beck, and 1st string with Allensworth(!).
- No designated Nickel spot: Will it be Beck? Turner? or will Wilcox/DeRuyter roll the die on True FR Hicks?
