Cal lands the commitment of tight end McCallan Castles

New tight end!

McCallan Castles with family at Cal spring game

Welcome McCallan Castles to Cal everyone! Go Bears!

The California Golden Bears have made it a priority to try and lock in on tight ends in the new Justin Wilcox regime. They landed two tight ends very late in the 2017 recruiting cycle, and have their first tight end commit of 2018. Castles hails from South Lake Tahoe (Ca.) and made the call to be a Bear earlier this morning.

Castles is a three-star tight end (0.8739) according to 247Sports Composite, ranked as the 417th overall recruiting in the nation, the 19th best tight end, and the 51st best recruit in the state of California. Castles holds offers from Arizona State, Colorado, Duke, Oregon State, Utah, and Washington State.

Let’s take a look at his tape on Hudl.

Castles recently visited Berkeley for the spring game and had nothing but positives things to say about the trip.

It’s unclear if Cal will attempt to go after a second tight end. Regardless, Castles looks like he’ll be the real deal for the Bears as they build up their depth at a once neglected position in Berkeley.
