Good news for those of you worried about California Golden Bears quarterback commit Adrian Martinez! Martinez made the trip up to Berkeley this weekend as one of the many Cal Junior Day prospects in attendance, and it appears all is well at the moment.
Up to this point, the Clovis (Ca.) quarterback has been firmly committed since the coaching change, but there have been a flurry of offers sent his way in the past month from all over the nation, including powerhouses like Oregon, Georgia, and Alabama. It’s good to see that Martinez made the trip up this week and to know that the relationship with Cal is still healthy and active.
That doesn’t necessarily mean that Martinez is going to stay committed. There is still much work to be done on that front, as Cal is still likely going to go after two quarterbacks. But it’s promising that Martinez is still taking trips up here as part of the class.
South Medford (Ore.) wide receiver Chase Cota is the other big-time target who made the trip to Cal. The four star wide receiver is obviously receiving a lot of attention from Oregon, but with a new coaching regime in place up in Eugene there’s a chance doors could open. Cota holds offers from Cal, Notre Dame, Louisville, UCLA, USC, Utah and Washington State (as well as Dartmouth!).
