Chad Hansen decided that declaring a year early was the right move for him, and the California Golden Bears wide receiver appears to have made the right decision for himself. Hansen was selected by the New York Jets with the 141st pick in the 4th round of the NFL Draft.
Hansen came out of nowhere to have one of the best single season campaigns by any Golden Bear wideout. With Cal losing Bryce Treggs, Trevor Davis, Kenny Lawler,Darius Powe, Maurice Harris, and Stephen Anderson at the wide receiver position, it appeared the passing offense was going to take a step back (and we haven’t even mentioned Jared Goff).
That was not the case, as Hansen came in and became Davis Webb’s favorite target in short order. Despite missing two games, Hansen still produced top 10 numbers of any national wide receiver. Hansen was third in the nation with 9.2 receptions a game and fourth overall with 124.9 yards per game, while totally 92 receptions, 1249 yards and 11 touchdown receptions.
Best of luck to Hansen at the next level! Go Bears!
