Congratulations go out to Davis Webb, who is going to get his NFL shot with the New York Giants. Webb was drafted with the 87th overall pick in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft.
The California Golden Bears quarterback becomes the second quarterback to be drafted in as many years. Jared Goff was selected with the first overall pick by the Los Angeles Rams last season.
Webb transferred to Cal for his final year of eligibility and did more than a capable job of filling in to fit Goff’s shoes. Webb completed 61.6% of his 620 passes for 4,295 yards, throwing 37 touchdowns and 12 interceptions, finishing in the top ten in passing yards, passing touchdowns, attempts, completions, and points produced. His 43 touchdowns (37 passing, six rushing) are tied for the most ever by a quarterback in a single season.
Webb performed well in the run up to the 2017 NFL Draft, winning Senior Bowl MVP honors and showcasing himself in numerous interviews as a sharp-minded signal-caller with good upside ability. He has quite the positive outlook going forward in the NFL, and we wish him well.
Best of luck Davis! Go Bears!
